Village for Vitality: a Clean Energy City Model
For four weeks during the summer of 2012, I worked with students at MIT and Tsinghua University in Beijing to design a clean energy neighborhood for the city of Jinan. Our student team, comprised of architects and planners, developed the concept for a walkable, dense, mixed-use neighborhood that had health-related programming throughout. I used my experience in solar and energy efficiency to inform our design decisions to minimize energy consumption. I also tested our development models in MIT's energy proforma tool to understand energy implications early in the design process.
